Saddam's fate awaits Trump and Netanyahu: IRGC commander
A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will gain nothing but misery and shame from their war of aggression against the brave Iranian nation.
Brigadier General Ramazan Sharif, a top advisor to the IRGC chief commander, said on Sunday that Trump and Netanyahu will go down in history as dishonored and defamed, like the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, who imposed a war on Iran for eight years in the 1980s.
Speaking to a gathering of people in the Iranian capital, Tehran, Sharif said that the Iranian nation and its armed forces have definitely won against the months-long US-Israeli campaign of military aggression and economic pressure.
He said the United States has no choice but to accept defeat against Iran because of the soaring energy prices caused by the war of aggression on Iran.
The general said that Washington started the aggression on Iran in late February with the aim of toppling the country's government in less than a week.
However, he said the brave defense put up by Iran has forced the US to pull back its naval forces thousands of kilometers from Iran's southern coasts.
“The recent battles exposed the hollow and empty nature of the American army to the experts and militaries around the world and revealed the greatness of the culture and resistance of Islamic Iran,” said Sharif.
“Today, the entire world acknowledges that the definite victor of this difficult and fateful battle is the great nation of Iran,” he said.
The IRGC general said Iran is quite accustomed to foreign sanctions and will not yield to the campaign of economic pressure that came after the US failed to achieve its objectives from the military aggression against the country.
