Claim that new deal won’t undermine Greenland sovereignty is a lie: Author
Author and Politician Christoph Horstel describes the new agreement between the US, Denmark and Greenland on military presence and resource extraction as another set of Trump‑era falsehoods.
He says its full content remains undisclosed while granting Washington exclusive foreign military access to Greenland and new rights over the island’s valuable raw materials, especially rare earths.
Horstel argues these minerals are essential for US missile production and the F‑35 program, and says Trump seeks to revive the American arms industry by securing unrestricted access to Greenland’s resources.
He calls the deal a major intrusion into the sovereignty of both Greenland and Denmark. On the wider dispute, he says Trump’s behavior leaves other countries trying to avoid confrontation, while Iran’s response has already “taught him a lesson.”
