'US unable to annihilate Iran'
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution says the US president will fail to defeat Iran, pointing to Donald Trump’s acknowledgment that Washington has been unable to do so since the victory of the Islamic Revolution. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was referring to Trump’s repeated threats and boasting about the US military power. The Leader said Trump claims that the US has the most powerful military in the world, but even the strongest military can receive a blow in a way that it cannot get back on its feet. The Leader noted that more powerful than a warship is the weapon capable of sending it to the bottom of the sea. Ayatollah Khamenei also addressed US interference in Iran's defense issues, emphasizing that the range and type of Iranian missiles have nothing to do with America. He stressed that having deterrent weapons is imperative for any nation, as no country can withstand the pressure from enemies without such weapons.
Iran-US talks
The second round of indirect nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States, mediated by Oman, has concluded in Geneva. Iran’s foreign minister has described it as more constructive than the previous round. Abbas Araghchi cautioned that reaching a final deal will take time. He said no date was set for the third round, but both sides will start work on draft texts to exchange later, which he said will be more difficult and detailed. Prior to the talks, Araghchi met with IAEA chief Rafael Grossi to discuss technical cooperation. The Iranian delegation was led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and the American side consisted of Trump's special envoy to West Asia Steve Witkoff, and his senior advisor Jared Kushner. Tehran and Washington held the first round of their talks on February sixth in the Omani Capital, Muscat.
Hormuz straight smart control
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) is conducting the second day of naval drills in the Strait of Hormuz, showcasing what its commander calls 24-hour "intelligence dominance" over the strategic waterway. The exercise, titled "Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz," involves rapid reaction units practicing counter-strikes against potential security threats. Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri stated the IRGC maintains comprehensive surveillance at surface, aerial, and subsurface levels to ensure safe passage for more than 80 vessels that transit the strait daily. He described Iranian islands in the waterway as impenetrable fortresses and symbols of national honor. The drills come amid heightened US naval presence in the region, including two aircraft carriers, as Tehran and Washington are engaged in another round of indirect nuclear talks in Geneva.
