Response to US threats
Iran’s acting defense minister says the armed forces will not be taken by surprise, nor sit idly by, in the face of threats. Brigadier General Majid Ebn-e-Reza says the recent comments by the enemy are considered part of the US psychological warfare against Iran. The general says, however, that Iran considers any threat real that requires attention. Ebn-e-Reza made the comment in a post on X social media platform. He added that the armed forces use any threat as a basis to increase their preparedness, strengthen their deterrence and improve their power. The comments come after the US president once again said his military is locked and loaded to attack Iran. In the same social media post, Donald Trump said, however, that he is holding back from an attack on the request of some west Asian countries.
Israel Gaza strikes
The Israeli regime has intensified its deadly offensive across the Gaza Strip. At least twelve Palestinians, including several women and children, have been killed in a series of fresh strikes across the besieged territory. Among the latest incidents, an Israeli strike targeted a vehicle in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza, killing two brothers and leaving several others injured. In a separate incident in Jabaliya, in the northern part of the territory, Israeli gunfire claimed the life of a three-year-old girl. Additionally, several people sustained injuries during a drone strike in al-Mawasi, in the southern Gaza Strip. Despite the ceasefire that took effect in October last year, the Israeli troops have been carrying out strikes in Gaza almost on a daily basis. The genocidal war was launched on Gaza in October 2023. The death toll since then stands at over 73,300.
Arbaeen march
Millions of Muslims from around the world are heading to Iraq’s holy city of Karbala for the annual Arbaeen pilgrimage, which marks the fortieth day after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hossein. Many pilgrims have already reached Karbala, while many others, including pilgrims from Iran, are making the journey on foot. Arbaeen is the world's largest annual pilgrimage, symbolizing unity as well as resistance against oppression and the pursuit of justice. These are the principles for which the third Shia Imam, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was martyred in the battle of Karbala in 680 AD.
