Indians rally to condemn Trump's threats against Ayatollah Khamenei

Massive ant-US rallies were held across India on January 29, 2026 to denounce rhetorical threats by US President Donald Trump against Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Indian demonstrators have held massive rallies in solidarity with Iran and denounced rhetorical threats by US President Donald Trump against Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

The protest rallies were held in major cities across India on Thursday in response to Trump’s repeated threats to attack Iran and change its leadership in the wake of foreign-backed riots across the West Asian country.

Holding pictures of Ayatollah Khamenei and Iranian flags, the demonstrators chanted slogans in support of Iran and strongly condemned Trump’s brazen insults, hostilities and threats directed at the Iranian leadership.

They emphasized that threats against the Iranian leadership are an attack on the feelings of millions of Muslims and freedom-seekers around the world.

The US president’s approach towards the Leader and the Iranian nation has sparked a wave of anger and hatred not only among Iranians but also among Muslims around the world.

The participants described the Iranian leadership as the only obstacle to the mischievous acts of the US president, who has targeted the Islamic Republic with threats, sanctions, and insults.

In recent days, rallies have been held in across the region and beyond in support of Ayatollah Khamenei, who  is not only the political leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, but also one of the prominent religious authorities of the Islamic world.

Sheikh Ali al-Khatib, vice chairman of the Lebanon's Supreme Islamic Shia Council recently warned that any harm to Ayatollah Khamenei would be considered a declaration of war against Muslims worldwide.

In a separate development on Thursday, more than 1700 Pakistani lawyers and legal experts in a joint declaration rejected a United Nations Human Rights Council resolution on the foreign-backed riots in Iran, calling the measure a politically motivated effort to exert pressure on the Islamic Republic

“We state that the aforementioned statement does not reflect the fundamental values of international law, including respect for public order and security of States, judicial independence, State sovereignty, and the rule of law,” they said in a joint statement.

"The preservation of public order and security of states must always be taken into account in the issuance of international human rights statements,” the statement read.

The legal experts further stated that sustainable peace and effective protection of human rights are achieved through dialogue, adherence to the rule of law, and respect for national sovereignty;

The emphasized that unilateral sanctions, military actions, and foreign interference often lead to the aggravation of human suffering and undermine the full realization of human rights.

Elsewhere in the statement, the lawyers declared their support for the Islamic Republic of Iran, its people, and its lawful leadership, as well as for their efforts to restore calm, maintain public order, and uphold due process of law.

“We further reaffirm our collective commitment to the rule of law, the preservation of Iran’s national independence, and the peaceful settlement of disputes,” they said.

Last Friday, the UN Human Rights Council, at the conclusion of its special session, adopted a resolution on Iran in what Tehran has slammed as a political, rushed, and ill-considered move.

The resolution was proposed by Iceland, Germany, North Macedonia, the Republic of Moldova, and the United Kingdom.

Iran has welcomed Pakistan’s firm diplomatic stance at the United Nations, after Islamabad openly opposed external interference and politicized resolutions targeting Tehran at the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Iran rejected a special session of the UN Human Rights Council as illegitimate, with its envoy in Geneva saying the country has never submitted—and will never submit—to foreign domination or pressure.

Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations office in Geneva, Ali Bahreini  slammed the hypocrisy and double standards of certain countries in criticizing the human rights situation in Iran, while they are committing war crimes and systemic violence.

The envoy noted that the sponsors of the session have never genuinely been concerned with the human rights of the Iranian people; otherwise, they would not have imposed inhumane sanctions in violation of the fundamental rights of every single Iranian nor would they have supported the Israeli regime's war of aggression in June, resulting in the killing of innocent Iranians.
