Rising Palestinians death toll
Another Palestinian has been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza where extreme cold claims the lives of infants. Israeli troops opened fire on civilians east of Khan Younis, killing one person and wounding two others in Bani Suheila. A teenage boy was also injured in Gaza City. Meanwhile, a one-month-old infant from Khan Younis died of hypothermia amid severe shortages of medical supplies. Since the ceasefire on October 11, Israeli forces have killed 395 Palestinians and wounded almost 1,090 others.
Russia frozen assets
Russia's central bank has warned it will sue European banks to recover billions in frozen assets, and to claim lost profits. The warning comes as European leaders are considering to use nearly 200-billion dollars of those Russian funds to support Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned of the harshest retaliation, calling the plan "piracy." The Russian Foreign Ministry has also dismissed another EU commission on Ukrainian damages, stating its decisions bear no legal force for Moscow. Hungary's prime minister says the funding proposal will not succeed accusing the bloc of hypocrisy.
Brussels farmer protest
Tens of thousands of farmers from across Europe have staged a rally outside the European Union leaders’ summit in Brussels to voice anger over the EU’s major free-trade deal with five South American nations. Farmers driving tractors blocked roads, hurled potatoes and eggs, and set off fireworks outside the summit, prompting the police to respond with tear gas and water cannons. Many farmers fear the deal would undercut their livelihoods while critics warn it could also fuel broader political discontent and boost support for far-right movements. Protests are expected to continue for another day with additional rallies planned in other European cities. The deal with the mercosur countries, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Bolivia, would allow the EU to export more vehicles, machinery, and beverages in exchange for increased imports of beef, sugar, rice, honey, and soybeans.
