Al-Awda Health and Community Complex in central Gaza has suspended most of its medical services for a fourth consecutive day after repeated generator failures, as Israel’s blockade deepens fuel shortages and disrupts healthcare for thousands of Palestinians in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

The complex has warned that the shutdown threatens access to essential treatment in central Gaza, where patients already face mounting difficulties obtaining medical care.

The suspension comes as Israel’s genocidal war has devastated Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure, while shortages of fuel, medicines, medical supplies and spare parts continue to hamper the operation of hospitals and health centers.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), as of September 24, 2026, only 19 of Gaza’s 36 hospitals were partially operational, with none functioning at full capacity.

The WHO has also warned of critical deficiencies in essential medicines, diagnostic equipment, medical supplies, and fuel.

These shortages have left cancer patients struggling to access essential treatment, disrupted regular dialysis sessions for patients with kidney failure, and heightened health risks for mothers and newborns, whose care depends on the continued availability of medical services and functioning equipment.

Israeli violations of the so-called Gaza ceasefire have killed 1,471 Palestinians and injured another 5,189, according to the latest figures released by Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Since October 2023, Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and wounded over 175,000 others, while destroying around 90 percent of the coastal territory’s infrastructure.
