Israel war on media workers
International condemnations continue to pour in after two Israeli airstrikes on Gaza’s Al Nasser Hospital left nearly two dozen people dead, including five journalists. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has strongly condemned the airstrikes on Nasser Hospital as a horrific attack. In a statement published by his spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, Guterres called for a prompt and impartial investigation into these killings. He noted that medical personnel and journalists must be able to perform their essential duties without interference, intimidation, or harm. Reporters Without Borders also said Israel is deliberately targeting journalists in Gaza, calling for an emergency UN Security Council meeting to end the massacre of media workers. Doctors Without Borders, for its part, strongly condemned the horrific Israeli attacks on Gaza’s Nasser Medical Complex. The MSF voiced deep outrage at the ongoing attacks on healthcare workers and journalists in Gaza, noting that such attacks continue with total impunity. It called for an end to the genocide in Gaza and for Israel to be held accountable. The attack has also been condemned by the Arab League, Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, Turkey and Spain.
OIC final statement
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has strongly condemned Israel’s new plan to fully occupy the Gaza Strip, calling for more international pressure to stop the regime’s crimes against Palestinians. The comment came in the final statement of the twenty-first extraordinary session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers. The bloc held Israel completely responsible for the ongoing genocide in Gaza. It slammed the regime’s refusal to respond to the latest Gaza ceasefire proposal, which has been accepted by Hamas. The OIC also rejected any Israeli schemes to displace the Palestinian people. It condemned Israel’s deliberate targeting of journalists and media professionals in Gaza, calling it a war crime and an assault on press freedom. The bloc called on all states to take all possible legal and effective measures against Israel, including sanctions, suspending arms shipments, and reviewing diplomatic and economic relations. It urged the UN Security Council to take immediate action under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, to stop Israel’s attacks and violations against Palestinians.
Rejecting Trump claim
Iran has rejected US President Donald Trump's accusations against the country’s peaceful nuclear program, citing old remarks by an Iranian citizen. The Foreign Ministry spokesman was referring to a recent media post by Trump, in which he accused Iran of trying to make nuclear weapons. Trump based his accusations on an Iranian citizen's remarks made years ago, which have since been frequently denied by high-ranking Iranian and even American officials. Esmaeil Baghaei said Trump's accusations are an effort to justify the United States’ unlawful attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities during Israel’s military aggression against the country. He also referred to testimony by the US Director of National Intelligence, who affirmed that the intelligence community continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon. The spokesman said in order to incriminate Iran, Trump even ignores the March 2025 testimony of Tulsi Gabbard before Congress, and instead leans on the personal analysis of an Iranian citizen from 2022. Baghaei said by making this move, Trump further exposes the political, and not factual, nature of his claims.
