Dismissing US threats

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf says the US is not genuinely pursuing negotiations but instead aims to impose its will through the threat of war. In an interview with CNN, Qalibaf said Tehran is prepared to negotiate with Washington, but only if talks are sincere and genuine. He stressed that Iran does not reject the principle of negotiation and diplomacy, adding it must be real, based on mutual respect and backed by guarantees. Qalibaf warned that negotiations under the shadow of war only fuel tensions. He said Trump may be the one who starts a war, but he does not have the power to end it. He also referred to the US aggression against Iran on June 2025, saying it took place just two days before the sixth rounds of indirect talks between Washington and Tehran.

Gaza humanitarian crisis

Israel has launched new attacks on Gaza despite a ceasefire agreement with Hamas resistance movement. Regime forces targeted the city of Khan Yunis with heavy artillery fire. Israeli soldiers also opened fire on a group of Palestinians near the city of Rafah. Reports also indicate that occupation forces demolished several new homes in the same area in southern Gaza. The ongoing attacks are contributing to the worsening of humanitarian conditions in the territory. On Wednesday, Palestine’s UN ambassador in a meeting at the Security Council condemned Israel for targeting humanitarian organizations including the UNRWA. Riyad Mansour said their ability to operate has been undermined by repeated Israeli attacks on UN facilities. He warned that Israel’s continued obstruction of humanitarian aid is worsening the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

Anti-ICE protests in US

Protesters have taken to the streets of several US cities against US President Donald Trump’s policies and the brutality of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. A vigil was held in the city of Minneapolis to honor all those who were killed by ICE agents. Mourners held candles as they gathered around a makeshift memorial for Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse who was killed by federal agents. They called for justice for the victim and demanded that ICE agents leave their city. In Washington, dozens of people also gathered for a candlelight vigil honoring Pretti. At the vigil, Congressman James Walkinshaw called on US lawmakers to take a stand to protect Americans from what he described as brutality by ICE and the Department of Homeland Security.
