US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
It has been another deadly day for Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, as the US-Israeli genocide against the war-ravaged territory rages on unabated. The latest attacks targeted al-Bureij refugee camp and Gaza City’s Shujaiyya neighborhood. Two Palestinians were killed near an aid center in Rafah. A Palestinian journalist also lost his life in an airstrike, bringing the fatalities among Gaza journalists in the genocidal war to 221. Over 40 people in the besieged territory were killed in Thursday’s attacks. The death toll in Gaza since October 2023 has topped 54,200. Most of the casualties are women and children.
Gaza tribunal
A people’s tribunal in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the situation in the Gaza Strip has issued its final declaration, condemning the US-Israeli genocide in the Palestinian territory and called for an end to the bloodshed. The tribunal called on the international community to take action and stop the regime’s crimes. It also highlighted the importance of resistance against the Israeli occupation. The four-day event was held in the city of Sarajevo and began on Monday. The independent tribunal examined Israeli war crimes and human rights violations in Gaza. Discussions covered a wide range of topics, including settler-colonialism, genocide frameworks, and apartheid. Multiple panelists spoke during the sessions.
Blocking Trump's tariffs
A US federal trade court has blocked President Donald Trump's "Liberation Day" tariffs from going into effect. The Court of International Trade declared that Trump exceeded his authority under the International Emergency Economic Power Act. It said the legislation which Trump cited in many of his executive orders, does not grant the president unrestricted power to impose tariffs. In addition to invalidating key levies, the court blocked separate tariffs imposed on imports from China, Mexico, and Canada. The case was brought forward by five small businesses affected by the duties. Within minutes, the Trump administration filed an appeal, and questioned the court’s authority. On April 2, Trump announced a two-tier tariff structure: a baseline 10 percent tariff applied universally to imports from all countries and an additional country-specific tariffs to nearly 60 nations.
