Lebanon’s direct talks with Israel will bring successive concessions: Hezbollah MP
A prominent member of Hezbollah’s political wing has criticized a fresh round of direct talks between Lebanon and Israel, emphasizing that the negotiations have brought Lebanon nothing other than successive concessions.
Hussein Hajj Hassan, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, censured the seventh round of US-sponsored direct talks between Israeli and Lebanese negotiators, which were held in Rome on Tuesday.
“Direct negotiations and agreements with Israel have only yielded significant concessions to the occupying regime. This is while the Zionists continue to target Lebanese civilians, army servicemen, demolish homes, and wreak havoc in southern Lebanon,” he stated.
Hajj Hassan went on to underline the need to adhere to the principle of resistance and steadfastness, stating the Beirut government must retreat from the wrong path of working out agreements with the Israeli regime.
He added that the Israeli military’s recurrent attacks in Lebanon prove the Zionist regime’s occupation approach.
“The government must reconsider the path it has taken, and act in a way that safeguards Lebanon's rights and sovereignty,” the Lebanese legislator pointed out.
Hajj Hassan stressed that the relationship between Hezbollah and the Amal Movement is strong and unwavering, and anchored in cooperation, integration, and a united stance in confronting the challenges facing Lebanon and West Asia.
He stated that the steadfastness and resistance of the Lebanese people and their adherence to their rights constitute the basis for confronting the Israeli aggression.
“We appeal for the adoption of options that preserve Lebanon's national interests, and prevent further concessions to the enemy,” Hajj Hassan concluded.
