Iran's defense capabilities
Iran's Acting Defense Minister Brigadier General Majid Ebnolreza says the country's Armed Forces are ready to respond to any threats. The top military commander said the Islamic Republic’s military is fully equipped with indigenous military technology that surpasses every imported defense system in West Asia. He said signs of the enemy's deteriorating capabilities are becoming more evident each day. Meanwhile, the Iranian army has also released a statement. Spokesman Mohammad Akraminia said the army is continuously pursuing the path of increasing operational readiness by modernizing damaged systems, introducing new equipment and relying on domestic capabilities. He said the arrival of new equipment to units, the army’s combat equipment and tools are being rearranged to suit daily needs.
Israel attacks Qalandiya camp
The Israeli regime has attacked the Qalandiya refugee camp in the occupied West Bank for the second consecutive day. Soldiers raided over a dozen houses and clashed with Palestinians. They used live fire and tear gas to disperse protesters, angry over the repeated incursions. The Palestinian Red Crescent says 11 people have been injured in Thursday’s attacks. Local Palestinian officials in Qalandiya say the ongoing military operation involves the destruction of homes, the theft of money and gold jewelry, and the conversion of eight residential properties into military barracks. The Israeli military says the operation can go on for days in order to root out the QUOTE terrorist infrastructure. Qalandiya is a key artery, connecting Ramallah and the northern occupied West Bank to occupied East al-Quds and cities further south.
Remembering Hiroshima
Hiroshima marks the 81st anniversary of the US atomic bombing of the western Japanese city. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi led the commemorations at the Peace Memorial Park. She pledged to do everything in her power to realize a world without nuclear weapons and lasting peace. About 50,000 people, including representatives from some 120 countries and regions, attended the ceremony. A US B-29 bomber dropped a 15-kiloton uranium bomb on Hiroshima on 6 August 1945, killing an estimated 140,000 people. Three days after the devastation in Hiroshima, the US dropped a plutonium bomb on the city of Nagasaki, killing 74,000 people.
