Slamming West's 'destabilization' acts

Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian, has accused certain Western countries of attempting to stir conflict in West Asia to advance their own interests, warning Tehran will not allow foreign actors to destabilize the region. Speaking at a gathering of entrepreneurs and investors in Iran’s western province of Kermanshah, Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to regional and global peace and stability. He strongly censured West’s double standards on human rights, saying the US that claims to be the champion of human rights is itself complicit in the killing of more than 60-thousand Palestinians in Gaza. He noted US president Donald Trump has been portraying Iran as a threat, while he himself is actively sowing discord in the West Asia and fueling regional escalations in order to boost American arms sales.

Nakba Day anniversary

Today marks the 77th anniversary of Nakba Day or the day of Catastrophe which refers to the mass displacement and dispossession of Palestinians after the creation of Israel in 1948. People around the world, especially Palestinians mark the occasion every year. Israel was created by Western colonialists in 1948 at the expense of expelling more than 750-thousand Palestinians from their homeland and destroying Palestinians villages and towns. Descendants of displaced Palestinians still hope to return to their homeland. On this occasion, Hamas movement has released a statement, saying that Palestinians will never accept another Nakba. The group stressed that resistance is the only path to return and victory. Hamas also called for Palestinian unity against Israel and urged international community to intervene and stop the systematic crimes against Palestinians by the regime.

Thursday has been another bloody day for Palestinians in Gaza as the Israeli military presses ahead with its unrelenting attacks across the blockaded territory. Over 80 people have been killed since early in the morning. The airstrikes and shelling targeted several areas across the besieged territory including the cities of Beit Lahia, Khan Yunis and Jabalia. The latest fatalities include Palestinian journalist Hassan Samour and his family. This brings to 216 the number of journalists killed in Gaza since October 2023. Nearly fifty-three-thousand Palestinians, mostly women and children have also been killed in the same period.
