Israel Gaza, Lebanon strikes

Israeli strikes claim more Palestinian lives in the Gaza Strip despite the ceasefire agreement . The Gaza Health Ministry reported that five Palestinians were killed in the past 24 hours, while four others were recovered from under the rubble of destroyed buildings. In the al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, one civilian was shot dead. Several other areas, including Khan Yunis and Gaza City, also came under fire. This came as the humanitarian crisis deepens, with Israeli authorities continuing to block the entry of essential aid into the besieged enclave amid the harsh winter conditions. According to the Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 391 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire took effect on October 11th.

Sydney mass shooting

At least eleven people are confirmed dead and some 30 others injured in Australia, after shooters opened fire on people at Sydney's famed Bondi beach. New South Wales police say one of the shooters is also dead and the second assailant is in critical condition. Investigation is underway into the motives behind the attack. Authorities have designated the incident a terrorist incident. They said the attack was designed to target Sydney’s Jewish community on the first day of Hanukkah festival, which was planned at the beach for Sunday afternoon. The Australian Prime minister has described the incident as shocking and distressing. The shooting is the deadliest to hit the country since the 1996 Port Arthur attack that left 35 dead.

Cambodia-Thailand clashes

New border clashes erupt between Cambodia and Thailand for a second week, as Bangkok denies Washington’s claim that the two sides had agreed to end the deadly fighting. Both sides say bombing and artillery fire hit their border provinces Sunday and that clashed are ongoing. The fighting over disputed territory on joint borders has so far killed 25 people, including civilians. This has displaced around 800,000 people along the 800-kilometer border on both sides. The renewed clashes come two days after US President Donald Trump claimed the Southeast Asian neighbors had agreed to a ceasefire after he made a couple of phone calls.
