Iran’s top general hails major improvements in air defense systems

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, left, speaks to reporters during a visit to the Khatam al-Anbiya Joint Air Defense Base on December 15, 2025.

Iran’s top military official says he is satisfied with the continuous enhancement of the Iranian air defense systems made possible by the specialized and selfless efforts of the personnel.

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi made the remarks on Monday during a visit to the Khatam al-Anbiya Joint Air Defense Base.

Iranian air defense forces, he said, through their dedication, sacrifice, and professionalism, have in recent months undertaken “significant and remarkable measures” to strengthen the country’s air defense capabilities.

“The continuous enhancement of air defense capabilities is progressing successfully as a result of round-the-clock and uninterrupted efforts of our colleagues in the air defense units.”

Mousavi also said that constantly improving air defense capabilities is among the Islamic Republic’s priorities.

He further wished success for the staff of the Khatam al-Anbiya Joint Air Defense Base, along with scientists, researchers, commanders, knowledge‑based companies, and defense industries.

The Air Defense forces of the Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) can support the Khatam al-Anbiya Joint Air Defense Base in advancing new strategies aimed at confronting threats, he stated.

Iranian air defense forces stood on the front line of protecting the Iranian sky and repelled many attacks during the illegal Israeli-US aggression in June. Several air defense personnel were martyred and injured between June 13 and 24.

Throughout the terrorist aggression against Iran, Israel killed at least 1,064 people and targeted the country’s civilian infrastructure. On June 22, the United States also entered the war and bombed three Iranian nuclear sites.

‘Iran’s Army developing deterrent technologies’

Additionally, on Monday, Iran’s Army Chief Major General Amir Hatami issued a message to mark the Research Week.

He said the Army’s efforts focus on developing deterrent technologies that send a clear message to enemies.

“Every achievement of Iran extends beyond borders, inspiring hope among oppressed nations and offering a model of independence from the scientific monopoly of hegemonic powers.”

Meanwhile, Hatami underlined the need for boosting cooperation with scientific and knowledge‑based centers and removing obstacles facing researchers at a time when the global arrogance seeks to undermine Iran’s territorial integrity and independence.
