US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

Israel has struck several residential buildings in central Gaza, killing at least 40 people and injuring over a hundred others. The city of Deir al-Balah and the town of Zawaida were the latest targets of the regime's air raids. Airstrikes also hit the southern city of Rafah, where some 1.4 million Palestinians have taken refuge. Gaza’s health ministry says Israeli troops have once again stormed the Nasser Medical Complex in the southern city of Khan Yunis after a brief withdrawal. They have surrounded the facility, preventing entry or exit of medical personnel and civilians. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization says it has managed to evacuate 51 patients from the hospital, but 140 others are still stranded there. The world body said it will try to evacuate critically ill and critically wounded patients from Nasser hospital to other medical centers in the south, including in Rafah. Over the past four months, Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has killed nearly 29,500 Palestinians, mostly women and children. About 70,000 others have been injured.

ICJ on Israeli occupation

The top UN court convenes for the fifth day of public hearings on Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian territories. Representatives from a number of countries and several international organizations present their stances on the Israeli occupation at the International Court of Justice. During court sessions held in previous days, many countries condemned Israel’s apartheid against Palestinians. They underlined that Palestinians reserve the right to self-determination. The Palestinian envoy to the UN also made his case at the Hague-based court. Riyad Mansour said international law has failed so far to stop Israel from committing crimes against Palestinians. The hearings began on Monday and will end on February 26. The oral proceedings are related to a case brought by the UN general assembly following a resolution passed in December 2022.  

New York pro-Gaza rally

Thousands of people have taken to the streets of New York City in a Jewish-led rally to condemn the genocide in Gaza and the US support for it. The protesters marched to the headquarters of the pro-Israel lobby group, AIPAC. They blamed it for funding the genocide in Gaza. The demonstrators renewed calls for a ceasefire in the war-hit territory. At least a dozen demonstrators were arrested during the Thursday protest. It was the latest rally in New York City in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza. Other American cities have also witnessed similar protests on numerous occasions since the Gaza war began in early October.
