Security forces land stinging blow on terrorists in southeastern Iran
Iranian security forces have launched a surprise counterterrorism operation in the country’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province, delivering a painful blow to the so-called Jaish al-Adl terrorist group.
Deputy Provincial Governor Ali Khalilabadi said the operation has been ongoing in Saravan County since the early hours of Saturday to completely purge the area where the foreign-backed militants have holed up.
According to available information, a large number of Jaish al-Adl terrorists were killed and wounded in the armed clashes, Khalilabadi noted.
The deputy provincial governor added that the situation is under control as a result of the full vigilance of the security forces of Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
“The group in question intended to disrupt public order and carry out terrorist attacks. Its members had gathered at a location in Saravan County,” he said.
The development comes days after terrorists martyred two local members of the Basij volunteer force during an attack targeting their vehicle in southeastern Iran.
Khalilabadi said on Sunday that the “cowardly attack” took place as the vehicle carrying logistics came under attack in Zahedan County.
The victims, identified as Kayvan Ramroudi and Abolfazl Oudi, “bravely held their position” before martyrdom, he stated, adding that additional information about the incident and the identities of the assailants would be disclosed by the appropriate authorities in due time.
On October 26, 2024, ten members of Iran’s law enforcement forces were killed in a terrorist attack in the Gohar Kuh district of Taftan County.
The so-called Jaish al-Adl terrorist group claimed responsibility for the assault, which was one of the deadliest in Sistan and Baluchestan province in recent months.
The foreign-backed terror outfit, based in Pakistan, has been involved in numerous assaults targeting both civilians and security forces across the border province in the past several years.

Terrorist groups carrying out attacks against Iranian interests in the southeastern and southwestern parts of the country are believed to be linked to foreign spy agencies.
