Israeli police officer found dead on Haifa beach
Israeli security forces have found the body of a 23-year-old officer from the regime police's counter-terrorism unit, Yamam, after a three-day search off the coast of Haifa in the northern part of the Israeli-occupied territories.
According to Hebrew-language media outlets, Master Sergeant Itai Parson, a Haifa resident, entered the water on Thursday for a dive at the city’s Student Beach, but disappeared and did not return.
Israeli officials said Parson had initially enlisted in the Israeli Air Force’s pilot training course in January 2023 before transferring that August to compulsory service in the border police.
Upon finishing his combat training, he proceeded to a specialized program for undercover training and was subsequently assigned to the observation and drone team of Yamam. He commenced his permanent service in December 2025.
Back in mid-August, a reservist Israeli trooper, who had participated in a military onslaught in the besieged Gaza Strip, was found dead in what appeared to be a suicide.
The Hebrew-language Yedioth Ahronoth daily newspaper, citing a military statement, reported at the time that the remains of the 28-year-old soldier were discovered in the Switzerland Forest close to Tiberias.
The trooper reportedly served with the 99th Division, which was active in the Gaza Strip, and was a member of a newly established unit that participated in combat over the past few months.
Amid the Gaza genocidal war, there has been an increase in the number of suicides among Israeli military personnel.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been conducting acts of genocide in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of over 73,000 Palestinians and injuring more than 174,000 individuals, while approximately 90% of the territory's infrastructure has been devastated. The assaults persist without interruption, even in light of a ceasefire established in October 2025.
