Yemen stages large-scale missile-and-drone strikes against Saudi base in retaliation for aggression
The Yemeni Armed Forces have carried out a large-scale missile-and-drone operation against a Saudi military base in the region of Sharurah in the kingdom’s south in response to continued Saudi attacks against Yemen.
Spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree made the announcement on Saturday, saying the operation targeted weapons depots as well as command-and-control rooms involved in managing military aggression against Yemen and its people.
“The operation was carried out with a large batch of ballistic missiles and drones, and the hit was precise and direct,” he said.
Saree also warned that further Saudi attacks would draw larger Yemeni military reprisal.
“We affirm to the criminal Saudi enemy that the continuation of its aggression against our people will be met with harsher and larger operations deep within its territory, the consequences of which will be dire for it.”
The statement followed Saree’s warning earlier in the day that Saudi attacks against Yemen would not go unanswered. He said Saudi warplanes had carried out 129 attacks across seven Yemeni provinces over the preceding 48 hours.
According to Saree, the strikes targeted Taiz, Marib, Hudaydah, al-Jawf, Sa’ada, Amran, and Hajjah. He said the attacks were conducted using Saudi F-15 and Typhoon warplanes scrambled from Saudi airbases in Khamis Mushait and Taif.
The developments came amid unprecedented advances by the Yemeni Armed Forces against Saudi-backed mercenaries along Yemen’s western coastline.

A senior Yemeni military commander said the forces had dealt a significant blow to the “New Middle East” project after completing their control over the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Yemeni forces asserted control over Perim Island, also known as Mayyun Island in Arabic. The island lies in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which connects the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.
The advance followed the seizure of the western coastal city of Mokha on Thursday, after which the Saudi-backed forces retreated south towards Dhubab.

Yemen has vowed to continue its reprisal until cessation of Riyadh’s long-drawn-out campaign of aggression and its illegal siege against the country.
