Iran’s top military commander has warned that any miscalculation or threat by its adversaries will face a “forceful, regret-inducing and devastating” response, as Tehran highlights the country’s expanding defense capabilities and military readiness.

Major General Ali Abdollahi, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, issued the warning in a message marking Iran’s Defense Industry Day on August 22.

“I emphasize that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with comprehensive, intelligent and up-to-date readiness in all areas — ground, naval, air, air defense, space and cyber — will confront any miscalculation and conventional or modern threats by the enemies with revolutionary, forceful, regret-inducing and devastating responses,” he warned.

The warning comes following wars of aggression launched by the US and the Israeli regime against Iran in 2025 and 2026. Iran responded to the unprovoked attacks by launching precision strikes against US and Israeli military assets across the region, inflicting heavy damage on adversaries.

Tensions have risen as the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, signed on June 17, expired after two months following Washington's breach of its commitments.

Elsewhere in the message, General Abdollahi described the Defense Industry Day as a manifestation of Iran’s “indigenous and deterrent power” in the face of unjust sanctions and the alignment of hostile powers against the Islamic Republic.

“Defense Industry Day is a manifestation of the grandeur of the indigenous and deterrent power of the powerful Iran in the face of unjust sanctions and the alignment of the child-killing arrogant system,” he said.

He praised the contribution of Iran’s defense workers, saying they had helped raise the country’s deterrence capabilities through faith and scientific expertise.

General Abdollahi described the defense industry as an essential pillar of Iran’s national power and said it plays a central role in strengthening the country’s security and national dignity.

“What has been achieved in this ministry in recent years goes beyond the production of military equipment,” he said. “It is a ‘deterrent defense industrial revolution.’”

He said the transformation encompasses defense design, technology management, the defense economy, knowledge-based supply chains and a smart production model.

These developments, the commander maintained, are designed to ensure effectiveness on the battlefield and provide an intelligent response to the growing complexity of present and future warfare.

“Undoubtedly, this glorious development is indebted to the creation of the belief in and will for self-reliance by the great architect of the Revolution, Imam Khomeini,” he said.

The general said the results of that approach are now visible both regionally and beyond the region, including the “second and third Sacred Defense” against an American-Israeli-imposed war, referring to the 12-day war in June 2025 and the 40-day war in 2026.

He said those experiences had demonstrated Iran’s ability to preserve the country’s dignity under pressure.
