The Israeli regime’s genocide in Gaza has become the most expensive military aggression in its history, with the cost expected to rise to around $169 billion, a report says.

According to a report published by Haaretz, the genocide in Gaza has increased the regime’s debt by about $130 billion.

Israel’s ministry of military affairs director general Amir Baram has prepared a strategy for an “intense decade” ahead, including military spending of around $500 billion, the report said.

The enormous spending plans were outlined without prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu specifying how the regime would finance them, while its annual $3.8 billion US military aid package is expected to decline and eventually end, it added.

Officials told Haaretz that financial concerns were largely set aside after October 7, 2023, when the regime launched its genocidal assault on Gaza.

The regime mobilized around 220,000 reservists, nearly doubling its forces and leaving the military struggling to provide adequate equipment and training.

“You send them into Gaza, and you do not have suitable equipment,” a senior Israeli officer told the Israeli daily, describing how soldiers searched for tactical helmets and protective vests from available supplies.

The report detailed how Israeli soldiers were encouraged by officers to fire on unarmed Palestinians in Gaza even when no immediate danger was present, adding to the devastating toll of the genocide.

Washington has also dramatically expanded its military support for the regime beyond the annual assistance provided under the 10-year US-Israel memorandum of understanding.

The US administration notified Congress of potential arms sales worth at least $19 billion in 2025 and 2026, covering advanced aircraft, missiles, bombs, ammunition, helicopters and armored vehicles.

Washington also invoked emergency powers to bypass the standard congressional review period for nearly $4 billion in additional weapons and military equipment.

Taken together, the US has provided at least $21.7 billion in military assistance to Israel since October 2023, providing the regime with substantial financial and military support.

Since Israel launched its genocidal assault on Gaza, its forces have killed at least 73,000 Palestinians and wounded more than 173,000 others, the majority of them women and children.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health has recorded at least 1,266 Palestinians killed and 4,200 others wounded in Gaza since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, 2025 as the Israeli regime keeps breaching the shaky agreement.
