Mass funerals of martyred Leader
Iran’s parliament speaker hails the massive turnout at funeral ceremonies in Iraq for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, saying the events amounted to a call for revenge for the assassination of the late leader. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the funeral was also a declaration in support of the path of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. In a separate message, President Masoud Pezeshkian lauded the historic presence of people in the funeral processions in Iran and Iraq for the martyred leader. He said the turnout was a manifestation of the Iranian nation's loyalty and solidarity, as well as Muslim unity and renewed allegiance to the ideals of dignity and independence. Pezeshkian expressed appreciation to the nation of Iraq, describing their support as a manifestation of the brotherly and strategic relations between the two countries.
Iran warns over infrastructure
The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has warned that any attack on the country's infrastructure will be met with direct retaliation. In a message, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr strongly condemned the hostile rhetoric from the US president, describing him as the world's most hated figure. Zolghadr asserted that Trump’s remarks stem from deep frustration over the massive, historic turnout of the Iranian and Iraqi people during the funeral processions for the martyred leader. The top security official reiterated Tehran's firm stance, declaring that any aggression targeting Iran's critical infrastructure will face immediate and reciprocal retaliation, emphasizing that the criminal Zionist entity backing these provocations will not be safe from the blows of the resistance.
Russia-Ukraine conflict
Moscow says it no longer believes the West is genuinely willing to pursue a negotiated solution to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov criticized the West for imitating a willingness to negotiate, while openly issuing ultimatums to Russia. The top Russian diplomat also said that although the West has been calling for talks, it has spent more than a decade undermining every attempt to reach a peaceful resolution between Russia and Ukraine. Lavrov said Europe is becoming a major threat to international peace and security, by providing military support to Ukraine. Diplomatic efforts, including those backed by US President Donald Trump, have yet to produce a breakthrough in ending the years-long conflict.
