Chief Commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guardس Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Brigadier General Esmaeil Qaani says the minimum demand of Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement is a full Israeli withdrawal to the positions it held before the outbreak of the 40-day war.
In a message issued on Thursday, General Qaani said the occupying entity must withdraw to the lines it held before the US-Israeli military coalition launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran on February 28, which lasted 40 days.
He also described support for Hezbollah as a collective duty, weeks after the Israeli regime launched a ground invasion in southern Lebanon, accompanied by intensive aerial and artillery attacks.
“Supporting the resistance in Lebanon is the duty of all of us, and removing Israel from the region is an achievable aspiration for Muslims. The minimum demand of the resistance is the withdrawal of the usurping regime to the position it held before the start of the 40-day war,” Qaani said.
“Lebanese fighters will soon see the results of their courageous resistance,” he further stressed.
His remarks came as the US State Department announced on Wednesday that Lebanon's pro-Western government and Israel had agreed in Washington to implement a new ceasefire following US-mediated negotiations "aimed at ending weeks of fighting."
The agreement reportedly includes provisions intended to establish new security arrangements in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah, however, signaled that it would continue to uphold the principle of resistance and rejected calls for its disarmament, insisting that neither Washington nor Tel Aviv can determine the future of the Lebanese resistance movement.
