Slamming Iran embassy attack
Iran’s foreSign minister has strongly condemned the latest attacks on the Iranian embassy in London, during which terrorist elements insulted the country’s national flag. Abbas Araghchi was speaking in a phone call with his British counterpart, Yvette Cooper. Araghchi said according to its international legal obligations, the UK is duty-bound to ensure the safety and security of Iran's London Consulate and Embassy. He warned that if the UK cannot uphold its duty to protect diplomatic missions, Iran would be left with no choice but to consider evacuating its personnel. Iran’s top diplomat also slammed the UK for refraining from taking action against Israeli-backed terrorists posing as news organizations. He said Ofcom, which regulates UK’s communications, has clear rules about the incitement of violence and glorification of terrorism. His remarks came after on Monday, Tehran summoned the British ambassador for the second time in strong protest against attacks on the country’s diplomatic premises. An Iranian Foreign Ministry official told the British ambassador that Tehran will take appropriate measures if London fails to protect Iran's diplomatic mission.
Trump administaetion sued
US states of Illinois and Minnesota have filed separate lawsuits against the Trump Administration, accusing federal agencies of unlawful enforcement tactics, and arbitrary actions. The lawsuit by Illinois accuses the Department of Homeland Security of using dangerous and unauthorized force. The filing says although the Trump Administration describes its actions as immigration enforcement, military-trained teams with semi-automatic weapons have created turmoil and imposed a climate of fear in the state. Meanwhile, Minnesota, including the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, have also filed their own lawsuit to stop what they called an enforcement surge by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The lawsuit argued that actions taken by ICE are arbitrary and capricious because other states are not facing similar crackdown. The lawsuits followed the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman last week by an ICE officer, and include a request for a temporary restraining order to halt or limit operations of ICE.
