The world is facing an acute shortage of energy supplies. Several factors are contributing to this. First, there is Russia’s war with Ukraine, in which Ukraine has stepped up its attacks, causing gasoline outputs to decrease by 20% compared with 2025 levels, while diesel production is estimated to have fallen by nearly 30%. An estimated 2 million barrels per day (bpd) of Russian oil export capacity is offline—roughly 60 million barrels per month.
