Iran’s Parliament speaker hails IRGC capture of US underwater drone as ‘knockout’ blow
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has hailed a “knockout” blow to the United States after the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy announced the capture of a highly advanced US unmanned underwater vehicle near the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Qalibaf made the remarks in a post on X on Tuesday night, sharing an image that portrayed the IRGC Navy as having surprised and captured the United States’ “most advanced” unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV).
The image also described the US Navy’s UUV program as “knocked out.”
Using a comic-style illustration, Qalibaf’s post depicted IRGC personnel appearing alongside US equipment, while emphasizing what it portrayed as Iran’s surveillance and control over the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
“Well, it seems the most modern US intelligent UUV just had a ‘knock’ on its door…from the IRGC Navy,” the post read.

Earlier in the day, the IRGC Navy announced that it had successfully intercepted and captured a highly advanced, unmanned US underwater vehicle at the entrance to the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The captured system was identified as a Dive-LD, an autonomous unmanned underwater vehicle developed by US defense technology company Anduril Industries and first delivered to the US Navy's Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Group 1 in 2025.
The capture of the unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) marks the latest in Iran's interception and seizure of advanced Western military technology.
Over the past decade, Iranian forces have successfully downed or captured numerous high-value US assets, including the RQ-170 Sentinel stealth drone, MQ-9 Reaper drones, and various underwater gliders and surface vessels in the Persian Gulf.
Reverse-engineering these captured technologies has played a significant role in accelerating Iran’s domestic drone and unmanned naval programs.
The latest development comes amid a sharp escalation between Iran and the United States over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most strategically important maritime chokepoints.
The waterway has increasingly become a key arena in the US war on Iran, prompting Tehran to assert greater control over maritime activity in and around the strait.
