The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has warned that any enemy miscalculation against Iran will be met with a response “more crushing than ever”.
The IRGC issued a statement on Friday, marking funeral ceremonies for late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei scheduled to be held on July 4-9.
It said that the funeral procession is not merely a farewell, but a momentous resurgence to renew allegiance to pure Islam, the lofty ideals of the Islamic Revolution, and the continuation of the path of the martyred Leader.
It added that the blood of late Ayatollah Khamenei will open up a new horizon for global awakening and the sacred unity of the Islamic Ummah, while casting despair and hopelessness into the hearts of the American-Zionist enemy and its regional and extra-regional supporters.
Alongside other Iranian armed forces, the IRGC “possessing comprehensive combat readiness and unwavering faith warns the enemy's evil front that any miscalculation will be met with a decisive response—more crushing than ever—that will be forever etched in its ignominious history,” it added.
The IRGC also stressed that its “readiness is not just a military display, but rather a declaration of abhorrence by a galvanized and vengeful nation against all forms of oppression and aggression”.
It further called on Iranians to once again demonstrate their unity, insight, and historic steadfastness to the world through their participation in the funeral ceremonies.
“Undoubtedly, this enthusiastic, epic, and massive turnout will serve as a firm and meaningful response to ill-wishers and adversaries of the homeland, adding another golden page to the record of achievements by a strong Iran.”
The Leader was assassinated, alongside some of his family members, on February 28, the first day of the 40-day illegal war of aggression waged by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran.
The multi-day funeral, expected to draw between 15 and 20 million mourners, will begin on Saturday with the body lying in state at Tehran’s Grand Mosalla prayer complex.
The ceremonies will continue through Monday with a funeral procession along a 10-kilometer route, followed by rites in the holy city of Qom on July 7, Iraq on July 8 and burial in Mashhad on July 9.
