Iran controlling Hormuz

Iran's parliament speaker says the country will never compromise on its rights regarding the administration of the Strait of Hormuz following the US-Israeli aggression. Speaking in a live interview, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said it is impossible for Iran to back down from this issue under any circumstances. He added that the Hormuz Strait falls within Iran's territorial waters, and based on the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, cost-free transit through the Strait will be only allowed for 60 days. Qalibaf said Iran and Oman are working together to determine the future administration and maritime services in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law and the sovereign rights of littoral states. Elsewhere in his remarks, Qalibaf stressed that Iran's offensive power and missile capability, its right to nuclear enrichment, and the resistance front are not open to any negotiations with any party. He noted that Iran prioritizes diplomacy with the US, but remains ready for war. Qalibaf stressed that although the US intended to deprive Iran of selling oil, the country is now selling its oil at a price 20-percent higher than before the war.

US politicizing sports

Iran's foreign minister has strongly slammed the US government for maltreatment of the Iranian national football team during the FIFA World Cup 2026. Abbas Araghchi made the comment after media reports indicated that US Homeland Security Secretary, Markwayne Mullin, did a happy dance after the Iranian team was knocked out of the World Cup. Addressing Mullin, Araghchi ironically said, "Mission Accomplished, Mr. Mullin.” He added that the US secretary also accomplished something else, which was proving to the world that the US had no business hosting an international tournament. Iran's top diplomat said American officials’ treatment of Iranian footballers was a master class for how to squander the dignity that comes with being a host. The Iranian team spent the tournament based in the Mexican city of Tijuana after logistical complications and US visa denials forced them to relocate from their original training camp in Arizona. Several members of Iran's delegation were also denied US visas. The Iranian team was forced to train in Mexico, commute across the border for their matches in the US, and leave for Mexico right after the games.

Israeli violations in Palestine

The UN chief has warned that the UN agency for Palestinian refugees is near a breaking point, amid the Israeli regime’s restrictions and reduced donor contributions. Antonio Guterres was addressing a General Assembly meeting. The UN chief said the safety and welfare of millions of Palestinian refugees, especially in Gaza, hangs in the balance. He emphasized that supporting UNRWA is the international community's responsibility toward Palestinian refugees, urging countries to cover a 100-million-dollar gap in funding for the agency. Guterres said living conditions in Gaza are utterly appalling, with people living amid unexploded ordnance, open sewers, rodent infestations, disease outbreaks, and widespread displacement. He stressed that families in Gaza struggle to access shelter, food, drinking water, education, and healthcare; while many are still sleeping out in the open or going to bed hungry. The UN chief said Palestinians are also facing relentless violence by illegal Israeli settlers and the Israeli regime’s illegal settlement expansion plans. He said the regime’s home demolitions, land confiscation, displacement orders, and the growing threat of annexation of the occupied territories blatantly violate international law.
