Iran has vowed to boost its defense capabilities amid ongoing US-Israeli military aggression, which has also targeted the country's military infrastructure and weapons arsenal.
The Iranian Defense Ministry said in a Tuesday statement that it was making efforts to expand Iran’s weapons and military equipment manufacturing to boost the capabilities of the country's armed forces amid the ongoing battle with foreign aggressors.
The ministry said it would utilize Iran’s scientific and industrial capacities for producing and developing the equipment, weapons, and systems needed by the armed forces “with greater strength and speed, so that the hands of the warriors of Islam in defending the security, independence, and territorial integrity of the country remain ever powerful and mighty.”
The statement comes amid claims by the United States and the Israeli regime that their attacks during the latest aggression that ended with a ceasefire in early April inflicted major losses on Iran’s military and defense capabilities.
Iranian authorities have rejected the claims, saying the country has abundant stockpiles of missiles and drones to fight any new aggression on the country.
Experts say Iran’s home-grown defense industry has enabled the country to create a major deterrence power despite years of foreign sanctions that were aimed at barring the country’s access to foreign technologies.
Iranian-made missiles and drones inflicted heavy losses on US military bases in the West Asia region and on targets inside the Israeli-occupied territories during the recent US-Israeli aggression on the country.
The Iranian Defense Ministry said it would “seriously continue the path of enhancing deterrence capability and strengthening the country's defensive power, and will not allow enemies to create the slightest disruption in the security and authority of Islamic Iran.”
