The Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) has issued a message marking the 40th day since the martyrdom of Ali Larijani, describing the late secretary as a brave and far-sighted figure whose legacy of revolutionary, wise and noble statesmanship will serve as a brilliant model for Iranian officials for years to come.
In a Wednesday statement, the top security body noted that Larijani "devoted his fruitful life entirely to serving dear Iran, the proud nation and the Islamic Revolution, and left an enduring legacy of revolutionary, wise and noble politics that will shine as a brilliant model for the officials of the sacred system of the Islamic Republic for years to come.”
The secretariat described Larijani as a “pious scholar” who was always ready and willing to shoulder heavy responsibilities and difficult tasks, excelling both in enlightenment and in decision-making and statesmanship.
“His words were penetrating and illuminating. He separated truth from falsehood and the pure from the impure.”

Larijani, the secretariat added, was a source of strength for the people and a guide for the elite. He embodied sincere loyalty to the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The SNSC Secretariat called on the nation to attend a memorial ceremony for the 40th day of Larijani’s martyrdom, to be held on Friday at the shrine of Hazrat Fatima Masoumeh in Qom.
The secretariat urged the people to attend “with clenched fists raised against the killers of Iran’s martyrs, criminal America and the vile Zionist regime, and shout out their hatred for these malicious warmongers.”
Ali Larijani, a veteran politician who served as parliament speaker, nuclear negotiator and secretary of the SNSC, was assassinated on March 17 along with his son, Morteza Larijani, the secretariat’s security deputy Alireza Bayat, and a number of his bodyguards.

Larijani was widely respected across the political spectrum as a seasoned strategist and a trusted figure in Iran’s national security establishment.
The United States and Israel launched their unprovoked war of aggression against Iran on February 28, assassinating Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, along with senior military commanders and political figures.
Iran’s armed forces responded with 100 waves of retaliatory strikes under Operation True Promise 4, launching hundreds of ballistic and hypersonic missiles, as well as drones, against American military bases across West Asia and Israeli positions throughout the occupied territories.
A fragile ceasefire brokered by Pakistan has been in place since early April, but tensions remain high over the US naval blockade of Iranian ports.
Tehran has repeatedly warned that any new aggression will be met with a decisive response.
