A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has affirmed Iran’s robust security posture, asserting that Iranian armed forces stand ready to confront any potential threats and deliver significant blows to adversaries should further mistakes occur.
Brigadier General Hassan Hassanzadeh on Thursday highlighted the successes achieved during the 12-day war in June and the recent US-Israeli aggression where the presence of security and law enforcement forces, particularly the Basij force, evidently played a crucial role in maintaining order within Tehran.
He said that despite attempts by terrorist groups, specifically the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) and counter-revolutionary elements, to instigate unrest, their efforts were unsuccessful.
“We took complete control of the city of Tehran… they did their best to create insecurity, but they did not succeed,” he said, underscoring the resilience of the city’s defense systems.
Hassanzadeh, the commander of the Mohammad Rasulullah Corps in Greater Tehran, noted that the frustration of the United States and the Israeli regime with the prevailing security led to attacks on security checkpoints, resulting in the loss of lives among Iranian forces.
During the recent war, security checkpoints operated by volunteer Basij forces and civilians were targeted across Tehran and other cities. The terrorist campaign was intended to weaken internal security structures and stoke chaos and internal strife.
However, such enemy actions failed to undermine the overarching security framework of the city, he said, noting that on the contrary, the situation became more secure due to the intensified presence of Basij forces.
Tehran, he said, is currently in a state of "complete security,” attributing this stability to the sacrifices made by Iranian martyrs and the continuous efforts of dedicated Basij members.
General Hassanzadeh stressed that Iran is poised to deliver “crushing blows” in response to any miscalculations or aggressions by external enemies.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Deputy Interior Minister Ali Akbar Pourjamshidian highlighted significant improvements in the conditions of the nation’s borders, particularly regarding the flow of exports and imports.
He said the borders are in better conditions than before the US-Israeli aggression, attributing it to the steadfast presence of border guards who protect the borders with unwavering vigilance, ensuring safety and security in border areas.
Pourjamshidian further highlighted the integral roles of the military forces, including the Army and the IRGC Ground Force, which ensure security in critical border regions, particularly in the west and southeast.
He said the Ministry of Interior's border special task force has implemented effective measures to improve the movement of goods across border terminals and trade exchanges.
“The situation of goods movement and export and import of goods is very good,” he said, highlighting the successful strategies that have been implemented.
According to Pourjamshidian, the current challenges posed at water borders have been largely mitigated through proactive measures.
With an expansive network of land borders, the government has adapted to these challenges and turned potential obstacles into opportunities, he said.
“There is no cause for concern for our people,” he added.
