Yemeni armed forces ready to inflict decisive defeat on enemies: Senior official
A senior Yemeni official says years of Saudi aggression and tight blockade have failed to deter the Yemeni people and armed forces from defending the country and enhancing their capabilities, underscoring the military’s combat readiness and ability to inflict a decisive defeat on the enemies.
Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Yemeni Supreme Political Council, said late on Monday that the United States and Saudi Arabia, as the chief aggressors against Yemen, alongside their regional allies, have bombed Yemen over the past years, perpetrated various forms of atrocities, and the blockade of Yemen remains in full effect.
“The bombardment of Yemen and its siege by the American-Saudi aggressors over the years have, however, not prevented our nation and forces from defending and making progress,” Houthi said.
“The longer the conflict continues, the more our enhanced strength and abilities will grow, and God willing, we will deliver nothing less than a humiliating defeat to the adversaries,” he added.
His remarks came a few days after Yemen’s armed forces announced two major operations against critical energy installations deep inside Saudi Arabia, targeting facilities operated by the state-owned petroleum and natural gas company Saudi Aramco in the Red Sea cities of Jizan and Yanbu.
The July 25 operations, involving ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, were carried out in direct response to Saudi airstrikes targeting Yemen’s key port of Hudaydah and the adjacent Kamaran Island.
Spokesman for the Yemeni military Brigadier General Yahya Saree said that the attacks met their goals, targeting essential infrastructure. He also highlighted the advancing qualitative capabilities of the Yemeni resistance front.
Visual evidence, such as satellite imagery and widely shared videos, displayed flames and smoke ascending from the targeted sites, even though Saudi Arabia asserted interceptions that the Yemeni Ansarullah movement has rejected as a façade.
Yemeni attacks are part of a wider defensive strategy aligned with the concept of “siege for siege,” after Yemen announced a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia in response to ongoing hostility and the kingdom's involvement in the humanitarian crisis afflicting Yemen.
