A prominent Pakistani Shia scholar has warned against US President Donald Trump’s potential visit to Islamabad, describing him as a "wretched person."
Maulana Syed Jawad Naqvi, a senior Pakistani cleric who heads the Lahore-based seminary Jamia Urwat-ul-Wusqa, urged the Pakistani government not to facilitate the visit.
It comes amid reports that suggest Trump could personally travel to Pakistan if a deal is reached in nuclear talks between Iran and the United States.
The talks have hit a deadlock amid US maritime banditry and piracy, which marks a blatant breach of the terms of the ceasefire between Tehran and Washington.
In remarks reported by the IRIB News Agency from Islamabad, Naqvi did not mince words in condemning the US-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
"It is not an honor for Trump to come to Pakistan. He is a wretched person, a false messiah, and a sinner," the cleric was quoted as saying.
He pointed to widespread international opposition to the US president in the wake of the unprovoked war of aggression that has so far claimed the lives of over 3,300 Iranians.

Among the martyred includes Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, top military commanders, and nearly 170 schoolchildren in Minab city.
"Europe, NATO, and even the United States itself curse Trump," Naqvi said. "Pakistan should not make him a hero. He should not be able to stand tall against Pakistan, Iran, or the Islamic Ummah."
Referring to Pakistan's role as a mediator in the Tehran-Washington negotiations, the Shia leader warned the country's leadership against aligning with Trump's objectives.
"Pakistan has gained this opportunity. We pray that God gives Pakistan's leaders the courage not to make mistakes and not to try to make Trump successful in these negotiations. They should not try to satisfy or please him," Naqvi said.
Describing the US president as a "wretched man," Naqvi urged Pakistani authorities to demonstrate the "courage to resist" and warned against turning the country into a welcoming stage for the US president.
He called Pakistan a "pure land" that should not host such a maligned figure.
