The director of Iran’s Neka Electrical Power Plant says the construction and renovation of more than 9,500 industrial equipment pieces required for the plant have been fully domesticated since the end of the last Persian year on March 20.

In a statement to reporters on Wednesday, Nourollah Adabi highlighted that the efforts to reduce the country’s reliance on foreign manufacturers had resulted in the production of 230 industrial equipment pieces for the first time within the country at the Neka Power Plant (Shahid Salimi Power Plant) last year.

“It is a source of national pride that an industry which, a decade ago, was entirely dependent on foreign technology for its parts and equipment, has now been fully domesticated by the expertise of the country's specialists,” Adabi said.

The director further emphasized that 95 percent of the electrical and industrial parts necessary for the renovation of Iran’s aging power plants are now being produced domestically. The development has not only strengthened Iran's energy sector but also allowed the country to conserve significant financial resources.

“Twenty-five years ago, when international sanctions were imposed to cripple Iran’s electric industry, the country's young generation turned this challenge into an opportunity by domestically producing and renovating more than 108,000 equipment pieces and parts,” Adabi said.
