The Iranian Army has issued a statement, warning of foreign plots following recent riots in several cities across the country and calling on citizens to remain vigilant against foreign conspiracies aimed at creating instability and unrest.
"The Iranian army calls on the vigilant and aware people of Iran to remain alert and use national prudence to thwart enemy plots, and to maintain national unity and cohesion to prevent the enemy from achieving their malicious goals," it said in a statement Saturday.
Referring to the US-Israeli aggression in June, the statement noted that the enemy whose hands are stained with the blood of Iranians is seeking to instigate another sedition and conspiracy with false claims of supporting the Iranian people.
Between June 13 and 24, Israel waged its blatant act of aggression against Iran, killing at least 1,064 people.
On June 22, the United States joined Israel and bombed three Iranian nuclear sites in violation of international law. Two days later, the Islamic Republic managed to impose a halt to the criminal assault through its successful retaliatory attacks.
Instigated by the son of Iran’s deposed shah, certain elements have exploited the economic grievances of Iranians in recent days to wreak havoc, invoking the legacy of a monarchy that was overthrown in the 1979 revolution after decades of autocratic rule backed by the US, a period widely remembered for repression, corruption and foreign domination.
"The great nation of Iran, through the glorious Islamic Revolution, cut off the hand of plundering and criminal America from Iranian soil and expelled the submissive, despotic, and West-dependent element," the Army's statement said.
"Over the past 47 years, the aggressive and satanic US government has continuously sought, through various tricks and conspiracies, to restore its domination over the Iranian people and territory," the statement said.
"Today as well, the enemy, through another conspiracy and with the support and backing of the criminal and child-killing Zionist regime and terrorist and hostile groups, seeks to disrupt order and calm in cities and undermine public security. An enemy whose hands were stained with the blood of the children of this great nation during the 12-day war, under the false claim of supporting the Iranian people, is pursuing the creation of another sedition and conspiracy," it added.
The Army said that within the framework of its inherent missions and together with other armed forces, under the command of Commander-in-Chief Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, it is monitoring enemy movements in the region with full vigilance.
It pledged that it will "protect national interests, the country’s strategic infrastructure, and public property with full strength, and confront any plot with seriousness".
