American taxpayers paying the price

Iran’s foreign minister has criticized Washington’s military support for the Tel Aviv regime, saying the US spent eleven billion dollars in taxpayer money on missile defense for Israel in around three years. In a social media post, Abbas Araghchi said the spending shows that this is not a symbiotic relationship; it’s a parasitic one. He attached an image of a table detailing the expenditure to his post. The list shows the estimated number and cost of US interceptors provided to Israel from October 2023 to June 2026. The data shows that during the period, the US fired over 600 missile interceptors shielding Israel. According to a recent poll conducted in the US, the genocide in Gaza and the war against Iran have cooled American sentiment toward Israel to its lowest point in decades. The results show that more than half of Americans say the US military aid to Israel should be either decreased or stopped altogether. This comes as on a global scale, the US is seen as complicit in the Israeli crimes in West Asia.

West Bank anti-Israel operation

Palestinian resistance movements have praised the anti-Israeli operation in al-Khalil in the occupied West bank, describing it as a legitimate response to Israel’s ongoing crimes against Palestinians. Hamas said in a statement that the operation, in which six Israeli soldiers were injured, demonstrates the Palestinian people’s resolve to continue their resistance. Hamas stressed that resistance will persist until the Israeli occupation ends and Palestinian land and its holy sites are liberated. Palestinian resistance committees also said the operation delivered another blow to Israel’s security, military and intelligence systems and once again demonstrated their inability to confront Palestinian fighters. The military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine also hailed the operation.

Russia-Ukraine war

Russia says it is prepared to negotiate with Ukraine, while pledging to achieve all of the goals of its military campaign, if talks don’t come to fruition. The Russian president also emphasized that his country is ready to resume trilateral contacts aimed at ensuring security for both Ukraine and Russia. Regarding Russia's demands for Ukraine to withdraw from territory in the eastern Donetsk region, Putin noted that people living there have voted for reunification with the Russian Federation. On Wednesday, Putin met with US special envoy Steve Witkoff in Saint Petersburg.
