Israel Gaza truce violations

Repeated Israeli violations and harsh humanitarian conditions; this is the summary of what Palestinians are enduring in Gaza, where a ceasefire was supposed to put an end to the regime’s attacks. Israeli forces have shelled locations near the Al-Bureij camp in central Gaza. Fresh airstrikes hit Gaza City’s Al-Tuffah district as well. The attacks come as the Gaza Strip saw heavy rains once again, while it is still reeling from the consequences of Storm Byron that battered the Strip for days. According to Gaza's civil defense, 90% of tents have been completely flooded in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood. Fear is also widespread among Palestinians over the collapse of buildings as a result of the heavy rains.

UK unemployment rate

In the UK, the unemployment rate has increased to 5.1%, marking the highest in four years. That’s according to figures from the Office for National Statistics, ONS, which show the jobless rate in the three months to October. The ONS says the overall picture signals a weakening labor market, reflecting “subdued hiring activity”. The numbers also indicate that youngsters are bearing the brunt of job cuts, as the fall in payroll numbers and increase in unemployment were particularly among younger age groups.

Trump sues BBC

US President Donald Trump has sued the British Broadcasting Corporation, the BBC, over editing parts of the speech he made around 5 years ago. Trump filed a lawsuit in federal court in Miami. The lawsuit says the BBC maliciously strung together two comments he made in order to show that he had encouraged his supporters to engage in violence during the Capitol Hill attack in January 2021. The complaint seeks 5 billion dollars in damages, alleging that the British public broadcaster defamed him by his speech edit. The BBC previously admitted that the editing gave the mistaken impression that Trump made a direct call for violent action. But it has said that there’s no legal basis to sue.
