Iran's right for self-defence
Iran’s Foreign Minister has urged the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to take a stronger role in defending multilateralism and international law, condemning the United States and Israel for repeated military aggression against Iran. Abbas Araghchi was addressing the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. He said the international system is facing growing unilateralism, illegal use of force, sanctions, and political pressure. He slammed the US and Israel for attacks on Iran, saying they targeted civilians, critical infrastructure, and peaceful nuclear facilities. Araghchi said Iran exercised its right to self-defense under the UN Charter while remaining committed to diplomacy. Araghchi also said Washington has violated the Islamabad memorandum by attacking civilian infrastructure and interference in the Strait of Hormuz. He underlined that the origin of any act of aggression against Iran amounts to a legitimate target for the Iranian armed forces. Araghchi condemned Israeli attacks in Lebanon and Gaza, calling for an immediate end to attacks on civilians, unrestricted humanitarian access, and support for Palestinian self-determination.
Iranian armed forces retaliation
The Iranian Army says it has launched a new wave of drone strikes against US military bases in the region, in retaliation for acts of aggression on Iran. In the 24th phase of its “Operation Saeqeh”, the Iranian Army targeted Shaikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain. Fuel storage facilities, large warehouses and accommodation quarters used by US forces were targeted there. The Army’s drone strikes were also aimed at Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan. Aircraft shelters and aircraft maintenance hangars were targeted there. The Iranian Army warned that any action against the legitimate interests of the Iranian nation will put the security and economic interests of other countries in the region at risk. Meanwhile, Deputy Coordinator of the Iranian Army, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, says the country's armed forces have emerged stronger after recent confrontations.
Israeli settler violence
Four Palestinians have been killed in an attack by Israel settlers near the West Bank city of Nablus. The Palestinian health ministry says four others were also injured after settlers attacked homes and opened fire with live ammunition. Israeli reports say that one Israeli settler has been killed in the clashes as well. The incident comes as settler violence and Israeli military raids in the West Bank have been on the rise since the Gaza genocide began. Scores of Palestinians have been killed in the occupied territory since the beginning of the year.
