West Bank mourns slain teen

Palestinians held a funeral in the West Bank town of Silwad for 15-year-old boy Yamen Samid Hamed, who was shot dead by Israeli forces during a raid on Thursday. The teenage victim was injured and later pronounced dead at a medical center after the regime forces prevented an ambulance from reaching the wounded boy as he bled out. Israeli forces have reportedly used live ammunition, tear gas and sound grenades during clashes triggered by the raid in Silwad. The occupied West Bank has been witnessing intensified military raids and settler violence since October 2023, when the genocide in Gaza began.

Iran condemns Sudan killings

The UN human rights office has raised the alarm over the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, saying it has received credible reports of widespread executions after the Rapid Support Forces entered the city of El-Fashir in late October. The UN official said it had also received many images from the survivors, depicting serious violations of international humanitarian law and gross violations of human rights. Earlier, on Thursday, a UN security council session on the humanitarian situation in Sudan strongly condemned what it called horrifying mass killings by the RSF. During the meeting the Sudanese ambassador accused the United Arab Emirates of fueling the war by arming the RSF militants. On Friday, Iran’s Foreign Minister slammed the killing of civilians in El-Fashir, during a phone conversation with his Sudanese counterpart. Abbas Araghchi also stressed Tehran's support for Sudan's territorial integrity and sovereignty. The RSF- seized the western Sudanese city of El-Fashir on Sunday. Up to 2,000 people are feared to have been murdered since.

US judge blocks food aid cuts

A federal judge in Rhode Island has blocked the US administration's suspension of all food aid for 42 million Americans, amid the ongoing government shutdown. The judge has issued a temporary order in a case in which the plaintiffs argue that the suspension of the food benefits is unlawful. They say the government should use emergency resources available to it to fund the benefits program. The Donald Trump administration is refusing to budge. The Department of Agriculture argues that resumption of the benefits will be pending the approval of the government’s spending bill by the congress. The US government has been shut down since October 1.
