Israel coercing Gaza families into 'cooperate-or-be-killed' choice

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor says Israel is forcing Palestinians into a “cooperate-or-be-killed” choice, using extortion and organized coercion to compel Gaza families to collaborate with the regime’s forces.

The pressure has shifted from targeting individuals to organized collective coercion that places entire families before a horrific equation, the organization said.

Citing testimonies, it said Gaza families were coerced into joining militias created by Israel or face persecution, mass killing, starvation, and forced expulsion.

The tactics include spreading chaos, theft, and exploiting social fragility caused by years of genocidal policy.

The rights group described these coercive measures as part of a broader strategy to dismantle Palestinian society, progressively weakening its capacity to survive, and signaling genocidal intent.

“These testimonies show a deliberate policy to break civilian will by using fear and destruction as instruments of subjugation,” the group said.

Euro-Med called on the UN General Assembly to urgently deploy a protection force in Gaza to safeguard civilians, secure humanitarian access, protect hospitals and aid facilities, and lift the blockade on the coastal territory.

It also urged the international community to act against the Israeli regime through the International Criminal Court (ICC), sanctions, arms embargoes, and suspension of political and economic cooperation.

The organization said “all states, individually and collectively, must fulfill their legal obligations and act immediately to stop the ongoing genocide in Gaza by all available means and take concrete measures to protect Palestinian civilians.”
