Africa Day holds significant importance for Africans as it commemorates the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) on May 25, 1963, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The OAU aimed to promote unity and solidarity among African nations.
In 2002, the African Union (AU) was officially launched as the successor to the OAU.
This year's celebration focused on the AU theme: "Justice for Africans and People of African Descent through Reparations."
The day provided an opportunity to celebrate African diversity, highlight its cultural and economic potential, and foster a spirit of hope and collaboration among Africans.
Africans living in Tehran marked Africa Day with pomp and color at an event that brought together diplomats, students, and African expatriates.
There was also an impressive display of African cultural artifacts and the continent's rich cuisine, presented by some of the countries with embassies in Tehran.
The ceremony was graced by Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, who was welcomed by Senegal's Ambassador to Iran, Saliou Niang Dieng, the dean of the African diplomatic corps in Tehran.
