A young Palestinian man has succumbed to his serious bullet injuries after the Israeli occupation forces opened fire at him in the West Bank City of Ariha, amid the regime’s ramped-up aggression across the occupied territory.

Palestine’s official news agency, WAFA, cited medical sources as saying on Tuesday that the 20-year-old Mohammed Yahya Asi Jalaytah had succumbed to his wounds after being shot by Israeli forces during a raid on al-Arab neighborhood in central Ariha.

The agency said after midnight the forces embarked on firing live ammunition and stun grenades at local residents in al-Arab neighborhood during a raid on a house in the area.

Jalayta was injured by the gunfire and was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead after failing to save his life.

A general strike was also observed in Ariha in condemnation of the Israeli regime's crime against Jalayta.

According to WAFA, Israeli forces have ramped up aggression across the West Bank as the regime’s settlers continue their raids on the occupied Palestinian territory in parallel with Tel Aviv’s months-long genocide in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The Israeli soldiers attacked Palestinian communities across the West Bank on Monday evening, detaining two young Palestinian men after raiding the Askar al-Jadid refugee camp in Nablus.

Israeli settlers also set up new mobile homes near the illegal outpost of Mitzpe Ziv on the lands of the Palestinian village of Berin, in al-Khalil.

Other reports said Israeli settlers set fire to Palestinian agricultural land in the town of Haris in the occupied West Bank city of Salfit.

Palestine’s official news agency said the Israeli occupation forces had ordered a halt on the construction of several structures in the village of Shufa, southeast of the occupied West Bank city of Tulkarm.

Citing local sources, WAFA said the forces stormed the village and handed over notices to four villagers, ordering them to stop the construction of three houses and a farm, while some of the houses were being ready to be inhabited.

On Monday evening, the Israeli occupation forces detained four Palestinians from various parts of the occupied West Bank, also setting up a checkpoint on the outskirts of the village of Ajjul, northwest of Ramallah.

Meanwhile, the forces rounded up Tharwat Shaqra, a journalist, along with her brother from the Mount of Olives in the occupied city of al-Quds.

The regime has escalated its West Bank violence since October 7, 2023, when it launched its genocide in Gaza. Since then, Israeli forces and settlers have killed about 1,000 Palestinians in the occupied territory.

According to the health ministry of Gaza, at least 53,977 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and another 122,966 individuals injured in the brutal Israeli military onslaught on Gaza since October 7, 2023.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the besieged coastal territory.
