US-Israeli onslaught on Gaza

Israel's shelling of a UN shelter housing thousands of displaced Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip is drawing strong reactions from around the world. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees vehemently condemned the attack that killed at least nine people as a blatant disregard of basic rules of war. UNRWA said the compound was clearly marked UN facility, adding that the number of those killed is likely higher. UN humanitarian chief, Martin Griffiths, said ordering trapped people to evacuate and bombing them before they can even do so is callous. Israel’s staunchest ally, the United States only sufficed to deplore the attack, saying the protected nature of UN facilities must be respected. Dozens of Palestinian civilians were also injured in the Israeli shelling of UNRWA’s vocational training center. The total death toll from more than three months of the regime’s genocide in Gaza now stands at 25,700.

Gaza humanitarian crisis

Sixteen international humanitarian and rights organizations have called for a halt to weapons transfer to Israel in an effort to end the ongoing onslaught on Gaza. In a joint statement, the organizations said Israel's bombardment and siege are depriving Gaza’s civilian population of the basics to survive, rendering the territory uninhabitable. They added that civilians in Gaza face a humanitarian crisis of unprecedented severity and scale. The statement said Israel’s military aggression has destroyed a substantial portion of Gaza's homes, schools, hospitals, water infrastructure, shelters, and refugee camps. It added that not a single medical facility in Gaza is fully operational and those still functioning are overwhelmed with trauma cases and shortages of both doctors and medical supplies. The humanitarian organizations urged the United Nations to take action to stop the crisis in Gaza and avert further humanitarian catastrophe and loss of civilian life. The 16 signatories included Christian Aid, Doctors of the World International Network, Norwegian People's Aid, Oxfam, and Save the Children.

Yemen attacks US ships

The Yemeni army says it has targeted a number of US warships in waters near the country, preventing two American commercial ships from entering the Red Sea. Yemen’s armed forces said they fired ballistic missiles at US warships that were protecting two commercial vessels in the Gulf of Aden and Bab al-Mandab. It said the operation, which lasted two hours, led to direct hit on an American warship. The Yemeni army emphasized that its anti-Israeli operations will continue until the regime’s onslaught and siege on Gaza end. Since the onset of the Israeli aggression against Gaza, the Yemeni forces have targeted over two-dozen vessels owned by or bound for Israel in the Red Sea. Yemenis say all ships, except those linked to Israel, are free to sail through the strategic waterway.
