The Serb, who was seeking for his ninth consecutive victory over the Japanese star, showed a flawless performance on Sunday.

He outclassed Nishikori with a score line of 6-3, 7-5 to clinch his 30th ATP Masters title in all. Next up for Djokovic is a trip to Rio de Janeiro where he will attempt to win the Olympic title.

So far, Djokovic has failed to win a title at the world's foremost sports competition. He managed to grab bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, losing to eventual gold medalist Rafael Nadal in the last 4.
