Iran slams Israel chairmanship of UN's Legal Committee

  • Iran’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Gholam Hossein Dehqani, has denounced Israel’s chairmanship of the UN Legal Committee as a mockery of the UN charter. He described Israel as a violator of international law and its chairmanship as a clear evidence of double standards when it comes to human rights issues.
     
  • The United Nations investigators say that Daesh Takfiri terrorists have committed genocide against the Izadi minority in Syria and Iraq. The UN added that the genocide against Izadis is still ongoing and the terrorist group is seeking to destroy them through killings, sexual slavery and other crimes.
     
  • Iraqi forces have managed to liberate more areas from Daesh terrorists near the city of Fallujah. The Iraqi army recaptured three villages, a bridge and part of the Heetawiyeen area, southeast of Fallujah. The Iraqi troops are pounding the positions of Daesh terrorists from the outskirts of the city.
     
  • Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah has strongly condemned the suspension of Bahrain’s main opposition group, al-Wefaq by Manama. Hezbollah said in a statement that Bahrain’s al-Wefaq National Islamic Society has always acted peacefully. Hezbollah added that the decision against al-Wefaq shows the autocratic nature of Bahrain's ruling system.
     
  • The president of the European Council says the UK and the EU have developed successful ties and Britain's exit from the bloc at this point would be a huge mistake. Donald Tusk said a possible Brexit can be harmful to the EU as well but the bloc would cope with it.
     
  • The United Arab Emirates says the Yemeni war for Emirati troops is over but the Arab country will likely keep part of its forces in war-torn Yemen. They are currently stationed in the province of Hadramawt and city of Aden. The UAE has been a key participant in the Saudi-led aggression on Yemen.
     
  • The United Nations Children’s Fund says child refugees are forced into sexual exploitation, violence and labor in shanty towns outside the French port of Calais. The UN added that the situation which has worsened over the past year is so bad that a lot of the children are at risk of madness.
     
  • Human Rights Watch says more than 400 people have been killed during the crackdown on anti-government protests in Ethiopia since November 2015. The rights organization also said that tens of thousands of people have been arrested by Ethiopian security forces during the period. The Ethiopian government has rejected the report.
