'Ball in US court'
Iran's Foreign Minister says Tehran has offered its plan to mediators and now it is up to Washington to choose between diplomacy and war. Abbas Araghchi made the remarks during his trip to Turkmenistan. He said Iran does not bow to pressure and the Strait of Hormuz will reopen only if Iran's conditions are fully accepted. He also briefed Turkmen officials on regional developments and Iran's combat readiness. Araghchi described his trip as productive and aimed at following up on major bilateral projects in energy, transit and economic sectors.
China tripartite talks
The deputy Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council says Tehran and Beijing both hold the US and the Israeli regime responsible for starting the war on Iran. Ali Bagheri made the remarks during his visit to China for talks with high-level officials. Bagheri has met with the Chinese FM and discussed the consequences of the US-Israeli war on Iran, Tehran's diplomatic initiatives to end the war, as well as regional security. The Chinese FM, for his part, expressed support for Iran's sovereignty and security. Oman's Sultan is also visiting Beijing. According to al-Mayadeen, trilateral talks involving Iran, Oman and China are underway, focusing on Oman's renewed mediation between Tehran and Washington, to be backed by Chinese economic and security guarantees. Meanwhile, Iran’s top security official, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, held a telephone conversation with Russian president Putin to discuss regional developments. The two also stressed the need for strategic cooperation based on the mutually agreed roadmap.
Record US election spending
The battle for control of Congress is becoming a contest of unprecedented financial proportions, with wealthy donors and powerful lobbying networks pouring millions into key races. Among the biggest players is the pro-Israel lobby, whose growing role in campaign financing is raising questions about money, political influence and the future of US policy toward Israel.
