Greek protesters have rallied against the privatization and possible sale of Lavrio Port to an Israeli firm for military purposes.

Demonstrators voiced opposition to the involvement of Israel Shipyards Industries, a company linked to the occupying regime's arms industry and among the firms interested in acquiring the port.

They demanded that the privatization decision be canceled and that the port not be used to transport weapons or military equipment.

The demonstration aimed to send a message to the Greek government opposing the sale of Lavrio Port to the Israeli company and its potential use in wars and genocide; protester Sofia Topalidu was quoted as saying by Anadolu.

Evangelia Sotiropulu, another protester, said she opposed the port’s privatization and its potential involvement in a mechanism supporting genocide.

Sotiropulu said the proposed sale posed a serious threat to Lavrio residents and criticized the Greek government’s cooperation with the Israeli regime, particularly the potential provision of port facilities and infrastructure.

She also referred to Greece’s defense procurement agreement with Israel under the Achilles Shield program, revealing that approximately €3.5 billion had been allocated to Israeli military-related projects.

Sotiropulu stressed that protesters would not allow Lavrio Port to become a base for Israeli military attacks.
