Iran warning

Iran’s foreign minister says Tehran is serious about both defending itself against any new US aggression and advancing diplomacy. He warns, however, that a military move will draw a stronger response from Iran. Araghchi said the US sought to isolate Iran during the UN General Assembly. He said the US failed to materialize that illusion as there was very significant attention to Iran’s viewpoints and proposals among delegations present in New York. The foreign minister also rejected as senseless and weird the comments by US officials that they expelled the Iranian delegation from New York. The foreign minister said Iran’s meetings and return were according to a pre-planned schedule.

Conditions for Hormuz reopening

Iran’s parliament speaker has stressed that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until Tehran’s seven conditions, under the Islamabad MoU, are met. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the US is trying to influence Iran’s strategic calculations through contradictory reports, stressing that the era of imposing unilateral demands is over. He said the Americans have recently conveyed proposals through a mediator, despite taking a different position publicly. Ghalibaf said Washington should understand that Iran’s position is clear and firm.

Saudi Yemen aggression

A senior Ansarullah official says Saudi Arabia can never change the course of the war by bombing residential and civilian areas in the Yemeni capital Sana’a. Hazam al-Asad, a member of Ansarullah’s political bureau, says Saudi bombings will not put a halt to the operations by the Yemeni armed forces to expel Saudi-affiliated elements from Ta’iz. Saudi Arabia has been bombing civilian sites in Sa’daa, Hajjah and Ta’iz recently. The latest attacks on Ta’iz killed two people. According to Yemen’s health ministry, over 70 people have been killed in the recent wave of Saudi attacks. Yemeni armed forces have responded by retaliatory strikes deep inside Saudi Arabia. They hit two Aramco oil facilities in Yanbu and the Saudi capital Riyadh on Saturday. The attacks on Riyadh reportedly halted flights in the city.
