A senior advisor to the chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has stressed that the US will have no option but to leave the region after receiving the "final blow" by resistance forces.
Brigadier General Mohammad-Reza Naqdi made the remarks on Friday while addressing a Janfada (Sacrifice for Iran) campaign in Karaj.
He stressed that the United States’ withdrawal from West Asia is inevitable, and that Washington must choose between an honorable withdrawal and suffering another humiliating withdrawal, as it did in Afghanistan.
“The occupying American forces must choose between an honorable withdrawal from the region and facing the humiliating fate of defeat in Afghanistan,” the adviser stressed.
He emphasized that stopping support for Israeli crimes of and evacuating the region is the only option available to the US, warning that Washington’s current policies will have “further consequences for US forces in the region”.
“If support for the Zionist regime and the presence of US forces in the region persist, the fighters on the path of truth will deliver a final decisive blow that puts an end to their presence in the region,” Naqdi stated.
He stressed that the enemy’s media can’t cover up its military weakness or change the reality.
Referring to the deployment of US aircraft carriers to the region, the senior adviser said "These carriers—once intended to symbolize American military might—have now turned into 'floating, aimless prisons' at sea, and their capabilities have been called into question in the face of the will and resistance of the region's nations."
He also praised the participation of 12 million Iraqis in the farewell ceremony for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in July, saying this “demonstrates the failure of the enemies' divisive efforts and the continued public support for the resistance front.”
“This solidarity demonstrates that the resistance front continues to enjoy popular support, and that the peoples of the region remain committed to preserving unity and standing firm in the face of hegemonic policies and external pressures.”
On Wednesday, the US military completed its withdrawal from Iraq, with the last troops leaving a base in Erbil under an agreement between Baghdad and Washington to end the US-led military occupation.
The United States invaded Iraq in March 2003, falsely claiming that Baghdad possessed weapons of mass destruction.
US-led coalition forces withdrew from Iraq in December 2011, but returned in 2014, using the seizure of large swathes of territory by the Takfiri Daesh terrorist group as a pretext for their renewed military presence.
