Iran dismantles US-Israeli-linked Takfiri terror cells, seizes large weapon hauls
Iran's Intelligence Ministry has announced the dismantling of three operational cells belonging to Takfiri terrorist groups in the country’s southeast, with nine terrorists arrested and three others killed in clashes with security forces.
In a statement on Monday, the ministry said its department in Sistan and Baluchestan Province dismantled the “organized and operationally poised cells belonging to Takfiri terrorist groups affiliated with the American-Zionist enemy” as they were entering the country and before they could carry out acts of sabotage or terrorism.
It credited advance intelligence monitoring and information provided by the public for the operation’s success.
According to the statement, three terrorists were killed during clashes with security forces, while nine were arrested. The ministry said the arrested individuals had undergone military, bomb-making, and assassination training outside Iran before secretly entering the country.
A considerable quantity of weapons and military ammunition was also discovered and confiscated from the arrested suspects.
Weapon haul seized in central Iran
Separately, Isfahan’s Provincial Police Commander Brigadier General Abdolvahhab Hassanvand announced the seizure of 75 military pistols, their corresponding magazines, and 74 additional magazines during a police operation in Na'in County in the central Iranian province.
Elaborating on the operation, Hassanvand said police officers monitoring the county's roads became suspicious of a pickup truck and ordered its driver to stop.
The driver ignored the order, accelerated, and attempted to flee, prompting officers to intervene and stop the vehicle, according to the police commander.
Hassanvand said the driver subsequently abandoned the vehicle and escaped, using darkness and local conditions to evade the officers. The police searched the abandoned pickup and found the weapons and ammunition, he said.
The Isfahan police chief further asserted that the law enforcement would deal firmly and without leniency with weapons smugglers, individuals seeking to disrupt public order and security, and those trying to facilitate violent crimes by transporting and distributing weapons.
